Clifford G. "Shorty" Ireland, 69, of Zedicker Station Road, Washington, died Tuesday, December 22, 1998, in his home. Mr. Ireland was employed by Arrow Trucking Co. as a tractor-trailer truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and Victory Medal. On February 25, 1956, he married Virginia Lee Bird, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Marcy Ireland, at home; a brother, Paul Ireland of Ontario, Calif.; two sisters, Geraldine Swart of Union City, Mich., and Marlene Staley of Washington; two grandchildren, Clifford Paul and Brandy Lynn Ayres; and three great-grandchildren.
