Anthony Albert George, 87, of 331 Knob Road, Brownsville, died at 8:30 a.m. December 29, 1998, in his home of Shy-Drager syndrome. Mr. George was a graduate of West Virginia University, a member of California United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 760, Bethel Park. He had served with the 345th Field Artillery Battery-90th Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Silver Star. Mr. George was a retired rehabilitation specialist with the Veterans Administration. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Gaynell White George; three sons, Anthony Giorgio of Riverside, Calif., Jim George of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Tom George of Boulder, Colo.; three daughters, Barbara Turner of California, Maria Allridge of Keller, Texas, and Susan Modereger of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; a brother, Joseph George of Wheeling, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Shawn Turner, Sherri Rapsack, Casey and Calli George, Price and Paige Modereger, Hilary George and Matthew Whitt; and three great-grandchildren. He was born November 15, 1911, in Benwood, W.Va., a son of Basil and Carmela Scaffidi George.
