William E. Iddings, 72, of Marianna, died Thursday, December 3, 1998, at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Iddings attended Marianna Borough and West Bethlehem area schools . He was employed by Bethlehem Mines, Mine 58, for more than 40 years as a machine shop foreman. Mr. Iddings was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS John R. Pierce 753, from 1944 until 1946, and was a member of American Legion Post 175 of Washington. He was a member of Waynesburg Moose 461, Black Diamond Golf League of Fredericktown, the UMWA and was a Pony League umpire. On August 16, 1947, he married Dorothy Donahoo, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Karen Bane of Marianna; four brothers, George, Robert (Dusty) and Eugene Iddings, all of Marianna, and Wray Iddings of Washington; six sisters, Betty Dectar, Lerayne (Cindy) Fetsko and Kay Monica, all of Marianna, Marge Fallow of Missouri, Myrtle Matthews of Zelienopole and Audrey Knestrick of Minnesota; and two grandsons, James W. and Shane D.
