Walter E. Anthony, 64, of Washington, died Friday, December 4, 1998, in Canonsburg General Hospital. Mr. Anthony attended Washington schools. He was employed as a precision grinder for more than 22 years at Precision Steel Co. in Washington before retiring in 1988. He was an active member of West Washington United Methodist Church, where he served as head usher and was on the PPR committee. Mr. Anthony was a member of Sunset Lodge 623, F&AM, of Washington, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Eastern Star Lodge 409 of Washington, and was an active volunteer with Washington Hospital Auxiliary. He had been actively involved with midget football and wrestling programs at the Brownson House in Washington for many years. On August 31, 1951, he married Jean R. Redd, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Helen Marie Mayor of Akron, Ohio, Cynthia A. Bock of Glenshaw and Linda A. Perry of Washington; a son, David D. Anthony of Hartsville, S.C.; a sister, Catherine Schwering of Washington; five granddaughters, Ryann Anthony, Ashley and Emily Bock, Kaitlyn Faris and Kelsey Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
