Olan Y. Williams, 84, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, February 10, 1998, in Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Mr. Williams spent most of his life in Monongahela. He received his bachelor of science degree in education from California State Teachers College and his master's degree in education from Duke University, Durham, N.C. He was a music teacher for 40 years in California and Marianna and was highly acclaimed for his musicals and operettas. Mr. Williams was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, holding the rank of sergeant with the 77th Division in the South Pacific. He was a member of Magic City, Mon Valley and Washington bridge clubs, holding the rank of life master. He was also a member of Monongahela Valley Country Club, AARP and Monongahela Senior Citizens Center. He also held memberships in PA State Education and National Education associations. Mr. Williams traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, Canada and Caribbean Islands. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Grace Jones Williams, who he married June 4, 1943, and with whom he renewed vows on May 12, 1996; a son, Dr. Thomas Kriston Williams of Donora; and a grandson, Michael Thomas Williams.
