Joseph Jindra, 77, of Houston, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 1998, in Manor Care, McMurray. Mr. Jindra was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, and the Catholic Mens Club of St. Patrick Parish. He was a member of the VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston. An avid fisherman, Mr. Jindra was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He also received a Purple Heart. Mr. Jindra worked as a machinist for 35 years at McGraw-Edison, Canonsburg, prior to retiring in 1983. He lived in the Canonsburg-Houston area for the past 60 years. On December 6, 1945, he married Julia M. Doubnich, who died February 7, 1992. Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth J., Mary Jo and Julie M. Jindra; a brother, Rudolph Jindra; a granddaughter, Amanda Dino; and several nieces and nephews. Seven brothers and sisters are deceased.
