Formerly of Washington, he relocated to Florida in 1976. Mr. Badley served as a medic with the Navy in World War II and in the Korean War. He was recalled during the Vietnam War serving stateside. He retired as chief petty officer from the Navy in 1967. Also surviving are two sons, Ted Smider and Pat Smider, both of Washington; a daughter, Sarah Becker of Tampa; and six grandchildren, Sara, Megan, Rachel, Sarah, Laura and Matthew. A son, Lee Smider, is deceased. A military memorial service is being held in Tampa on Friday, February 20. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Heart Association. William P. Badley, 73, of Tampa, Fla., died Wednesday, February 11, 1998.
In 1965 he married Barbara Dunn Smider, who survives.
