Emanuel "Bud" Franks, 67, of Uniontown R.D.3, died Tuesday, February 17, 1998, at his home. Mr. Franks was owner and publisher of the Masontown Sentinel for 32 years, and along with his wife, owned and operated the Masontown and Fayette Printing Co's. He was formerly employed with the Herald Standard newspaper of Uniontown and then with the Observer-Reporter of Washington, where he retired in 1986. Mr. Franks served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 4584 of Masontown. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Eleanor Kazmierczak Franks; a son, Keith Edward Franks of Farmington; a daughter, Beverly Pope of Masontown; a grandson, Steven Pope; four sisters, Thelma Seese of Herbert, Edna Truxal of Youngwood, Ruby Christopher of Amend and Etta Mae Pincheck of Twinsburg, Ohio.
