Oscar N. Simmen Jr., 75, of Lucetta Drive, Monongahela, died Tuesday, Febrary 17, 1998, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. Simmen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Monongahela. He was a sergeant with the 119 Army Combat Infantry, 30th Division during World War II in Europe. He was awarded the Presidential Citation, the Purple Heart, the Oak Leaf Cluster and five Bronze Stars. Mr. Simmen was a divisional sales manager for 32 years with Mutual and United of Omaha Insurance Companies. He carried the designation of CLU, RHU and LUTCF. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Norma Spence Simmen. Also surviving are four children, Arlene Hammerstrom of Monongahela, Oscar Simmen III of Donora, Joyce O'Dell of Virginia Beach, Va., and Noreen Tonti of Elizabeth; seven grandchildren, Joseph Snodrass Jr., Jill Mascara, David and Daniel Simmen, Michael and Sean O'Dell and Carrie Tonti; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Alfred Simmen of West Mifflin and Franklin Simmen of Jefferson Borough.
