John Mancini, 84, of Washington, died Sunday, February 1, 1998 in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington. He was a retired coal miner, who was formerly employed by Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. During World War II, Mr. Mancini served in the Pacific Theater, where he was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, the American Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. On February 11, 1943, he married Josephine Rose Scuvotti, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Connie L. Spanjer of Denver, Colo., and Rita A. Mancini of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Sam Mancini of Eighty Four, Ben Mancini of Florida and Frank Mancini of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Rose Feniello of Flushing, N.Y., Lena Hall of Cleveland, Ohio, and Theresa Chambers of Scenery Hill; four grandchildren, Stephanie Kisabeth, Shannon Dooley, and Bonnie and Brian Spanjer.
