Dorothy E. Crowl, 82, of Carmichaels, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 1998, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., after a three-month illness. Miss Crowl was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carmichaels, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. Miss Crowl was a 1933 graduate of Charleroi High School and received a degree in education in 1937 from California State Teachers College, now California University of Pennsylvania. She was an elementary school teacher in the Beth-Center School District for 47 years prior to her retirement. Surviving is a sister, Isabel Rankin of Carmichaels, with whom she made her home; a niece, Susan Frye of Carmichaels, and a nephew, William L. Rankin of Carmichaels. She was born August 12, 1915, in Dunlevy, a daughter of Robert Ellsworth and Isabelle Harmison Courtley Crowl, and had been a resident of Carmichaels since 1950.
