Michael M. Popovich, 85, of North Main Street, Houston, died Friday, February 20, 1998, at home. Mr. Popovich was a retired carpenter, working out of Local 2274 of the Carpenters Union Heavy Construction. He was a member of the Houston Independent Club and American Legion Post 902 of Houston. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. On January 24, 1948, he married Julia Scarcell, who died August 14, 1997. Surviving are two brothers, George Popovich of Phoenix, Ariz., and Pete Popovich of Washington; two sisters, Elizabeth Jampol and Mary Curtis, both from California state.
