Herbert Thompson, 86, of Oakland, Calif., formerly of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, February 18, 1998. Mr. Thompson was a businessman for 38 years in Montclair, Calif. He loved sports and played football at Canonsburg High School. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Jackson Thompson; two sons, Herbert Thompson and Timothy Thompson, both of Northern California; a daughter, Diane Sullivan of Grants Pass, Ore.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Rasel of Ferndale, Mich., and Ruth Lesso of Canonsburg. Deceased are a son, David Thompson; two sisters, Alice Harris and Marion Marchinok; and three brothers, Paul Thompson, Norwood Thompson and Noel Thompson. Burial is in Oakland, Calif.
