Virginia E. Simpson, 83, of Springfield, Mass., formerly of Washington and Augusta, N.J., died at 7:27 a.m. Sunday, February 1, 1998, in Spruce Manor, Springfield. Mrs. Simpson was a member of West Washington United Methodist Church while living in Washington. She was formerly employed by the YMCA of Jersey City, N.J. On June 29, 1938, she married Wilbert Glenn Simpson, who died January 23, 1964. Surviving are two sons, Charles C. Simpson of East Stroudsburg and Donald McKee Simpson of Springfield; three daughters, Jetty Jaeger and Mildred Castillo of Jersey City, N.J., and Emma Colamarino of North Bergen, N.J.; a brother, Homer D. Jones of Washington; 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Charles Leonard and Ellsworth Jones; and two sisters, Margaret Cage and Alberta Davis.
