James B. Becker Jr., 70, of Scenery Hill, died of a heart attack Friday, February 6, 1998, in his home. Mr. Becker was an extraordinary horseman who showed and trained numerous horse at local, state and national championships. He was an international judge, judging every major horse show including the American Quarter Horse Youth World Championship Shows, Appaloosa Horse Club World Show, the American Paint World Horse Show. He was a certified judge for the American Quarter Horse Association, Appaloosa, American Paint Horse Association, Palomino Horse Association, National Snaffle Bit Association, American Horse Show Association, Pinto Horse Association and the Pony of the America Inc., His passion for horses lives on through his son and daughter who carry on the family business that Mr. Becker and his late wife, Dorothy, began. He served with the U.S. Navy, Surviving are a daughter, Linda J. Becker at home; a son, James B. Becker III at home; and a brother, Charles L. Becker of Baldwin.
