Samuel Salvador Stringhill, 77, of 205 Otto Street, Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, died at 7:49 a.m. Sunday, February 8, 1998, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Mr. Stringhill was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area, where he was a member of the St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport plant, where he worked as a slitter operator. Mr. Stringhill was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army First Armored Division. He was a tank operator and served as a sergeant. He was a life member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, where he served as past commander and past president, life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department, Arden Calvert Post 167 VFW Charleroi, and BPO Elks Monessen Lodge 773. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Eleanor "Judy" Molek Stringhill; a son, Charles "Chuck" Stringhill of Belle Vernon; three daughters, Melanie Patterson and Valerie Homanics, both of Belle Vernon, and Kimberly Stringhill at home; a brother, Louis Stringhill of Belle Vernon; two sisters, Lena Mazzei and Janie Mitchell both of Belle Vernon; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Shelby and Jacob Homanics, Maria Stringhill and Cody Patterson. Deceased are seven brothers, Orlando, Charles, Frank, Rudolph, James, Fred and Anthony Stringhill; and a sister, Innis Stringhill. He was born August 2, 1920, in Fayette City, a son of Joseph and Josephine Mazzei Stringhill.
