Angelo S. "Blackie" Battistoni Jr., 69, of Waynesburg R.D.1, died Sunday, February 8, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. Mr. Battistoni was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson High School. He was a retired coal miner of Gateway Coal Company and had lived in Waynesburg since 1966. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 954 of Jefferson, and a member of United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Battistoni enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Greene County Country Club. On June 26, 1952, he married Virginia Detwiler, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Debra S. Blouir of Waynesburg; two sons, Gregory A. Battistoni and Gary M. Battistoni both at home; five brothers, Charles Battistoni of Greensburg, Raymond Battistoni of Alexandria, Va., Roger "Pete" Battistoni of Coral Springs, Fla., Richard Battistoni of Gilbertsville and Ronald Battistoni of Collegeville; and two sisters, Ida Clements of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Mary Rice of Mather.
