Herbert D. Hazlett, 84, of Nannie Street, Washington, formerly of Prosperity, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 1998, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
He was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church. He formerly was employed as a mechanic at BethEnergy Inc.'s Mine No. 58 in Marianna. He was a 1932 graduate of Trinity High School.
On December 20, 1934, he married Frances Anna Huffman who died August 31, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert D. Hazlett of Fredericktown and Melvin Richard Hazlett of Prosperity; four daughters, Cordilia Whitley of Washington, Dolores Montgomery of Waynesburg, Bessie Rockenhauser of Elgin, Ill., and Frances Chappel of Washington; a sister Ora May Gilmore of Greensburg; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, Joseph Hazlett; a brother, Fred Houston, and a sister, Margaret Houston.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. Services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
