Fred A. Stewart

Retired from McGraw-Edison after 20 years

Fred A. Stewart, 70, of Leet Street, Washington, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 1998, at home. He had been ill since September.

He was born August 25, 1927, in Washington, a son of Clara Wheeler Stewart of Pittsburgh and the late Fred Stewart.

Mr. Stewart had been employed by Washington Bottling Company for 18 years and was employed by McGraw-Edison in the shipping department for 20 years prior to retiring in 1990.

He attended Washington area schools, and during World War II served in the U.S. Army Air Force in Labrador.

Mr. Stewart was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and the Independent Club in Washington.

He married Josephine P. Mantia, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Barbara Jo Jaecks of Albuquerque, N.M., Karen Leek of Washington; two sisters, Marie Adams and Jean Mitchell, both of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Anthony Hull, Daniel Stewart Jaecks, Michael Jay Jaecks and Sara Marie Sharp.
