Royal Lynn Sprowls, 79, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Washington and Amity, died Friday evening, January 16, 1998, in Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa. Mr. Sprowls had formerly been employed by RCA as a draftsmen, retiring in 1980. He was a member of First Christian Church in Washington, a former member of National Lodge 81 I.O.O.F. and Lady Hogue Rebecca Lodge, Buffalo Grange. He was a photographer and was very involved in genealogy, was a graduate of Prosperity High School and attended Washington and Jefferson College. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. He was twice married, his first wife, Leona Hoover, died in 1971, On October 12, 1988, he married Della Caldwell Tarr, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary Sprowls of Amity; two daughters, Cinda Schurr of Ellington, Fla., and Sandy Fien of Washington; a stepdaughter Nancy Elizabeth Megyesy of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two half-brothers, Eugene H. Sprowls of Yardley and John S. Sprowls of Roanoke, Va.; a half-sister, Margaret Ann Todd Brown, of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Deceased is a half-brother, Robert D.
