Word has been received of the death of Waynesburg native Alma Zimmerman Garrett, 75, Huntington Beach, Calif., who died Friday, January 2, 1998. Mrs. Garrett lived in Huntington Beach for 37 years and was the wife of the late Thomas B. Garrett. She retired from the Newport Mesa Unified School District in California after 22 years of service as a credentials technician. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Women's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Los Ayundantes, American Contact Bridge League, the Democratic Party and the Cornerstone Genealogy Society. Surviving are two brothers, the Honorable George L. Zimmerman of Alamagordo, N.M., and James B. Zimmerman of Waynesburg; three daughters, Shelley Garrett Staniforth and Rebecca G. Pickford, both of Santa Ana, Calif., and Ellen T. Garrett of Peidmont, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
