George M. Kennedy, 65, of Mechanic Street, Mt. Morris, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 16, 1998, in his home. He had a career in the military and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having completed two tours in Vietnam. While in the service he received several decorations, including the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. After 20 years of service in the Army he retired and worked several years with the military as a civilian. Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor Akers of Louisville, Ky., and Virginia Kennedy of Vergrheinfeld, Germany; five grandchildren; five sisters, Velma Pauline Classic, Joyce Elaine Goodwin, Vesta Jean Clifford, all of Warren, Ohio, Inez Yvonne Kennedy of Waynesburg, and Patricia Ann Doychack of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, David Charles Kennedy of Mt. Morris and Louis Lindsey Kennedy of Brave. Deceased are four brothers, Howard Lee and Ronald Eugene Kennedy and two brothers who died in infancy. He was born August 31, 1932, in Mt. Morris, a son of Clarence Daniel and Irene Mae Childs Kennedy.
