Robert C. Jones, 88, of Eighty Four, died Sunday, January 25, 1998, at his home. Mr. Jones was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School, St. Petersburg, Fla. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1931 until 1939. He was employed by the Social Security Administration for several years. He was later employed at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Plant No. 2, now known as Brockway Glass, from 1943 until 1974, when he retired from the purchasing department. He had been secretary-treasurer of the GBBA Union. Mr. Jones was a 36-year perfect attendance member of the Scenery Hill Lions Club. He also served as president from 1966-1967. He was currently serving as tailtwister and chairman of the blind products committee. He was an avid woodworker and furniture refinisher. On December 21, 1936, in Wellsburg, W.Va., he married Laura Jean Ross, who died November 23, 1993. Surviving are two daughters, Nadene Gardner of Lone Pine and Lisa K. Salata of Amity; two sons, Robert W. Jones of Eighty Four and David L. Jones of Middletown; 13 grandchildren, Bill and Jeff Gardner, Julie, Bobby and Brad Jones, Dana Burns, Rodney and Dean Yates, Jim and Chris Jones, Annissa, Heather and Sammantha Salata; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
