Clara Petel Smith, 73, of McDonald (No. 9), died Monday, January 26, 1998, at Allegheny General Hospital following a lengthy illness. Her husband, James S. Smith Sr., died in 1970. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Speicher of McDonald and Marion Geannett of Midway; three sons, Vernon S. Smith of McDonald, James S. Smith Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii and Dale Smith of South Fayette Township; two sisters, Agnes Svihla of McDonald and Marie Johnston of McDonald; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Deceased are two sisters, Ann Zarnick and Helen Garca; and three brothers, Jack Lynn, Stanley Lynn and Andy Petel.
