Joseph J. Kikla

WW II veteran retired from Liggett Spring and Axle

Joseph J. "Butch" Kikla, 76, of Hazelkirk, died Saturday, January 3, 1998, in Mon Valley Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1921, in Webster, a son of Samuel Sr. and Elizabeth Pitek Kikla.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Kikla worked in the machine shop of Liggett Spring and Axle Company in Monongahela.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Monongahela American Legion Post 302.

Mr. Kikla was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Monongahela.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Banyar Kikla, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage on September 5.

Also surviving are a son, Joseph R. Kikla of Monongahela; two daughters, Janice Booth of Monongahela and Marion Crayton of Finleyville; three brothers, Samuel Kikla Jr. of Englewood, Fla., John Kikla of Donora and Victor Kikla of Brentwood; two sisters, Amelia Yorke of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mary Tarabrella of Charleroi; four grandchildren, Erica and Ashley Booth and Nicole and Nina Crayton.

Deceased are a brother, Edward Kikla; and a sister, Elizabeth Kikla.
