Burhl Melvin Cunningham, 66, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Clarksville, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 1998, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in North Carolina. Mr. Cunningham was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School and retired in June 1997 as manager of the community college book store in Fayetteville N.C. He served 25 years in the U.S. Army, where he was a decorated war veteran of Vietnam, retiring as a commanding sergeant major. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Geist Cunningham; a brother, Robert D. Cunningham of Fredericktown; and a niece, Theresa A. Mitchell of Houston. Deceased are two brothers and a sister. Private services will be held Wednesday, July 15, in the Chapel of Fort Bragg, N.C.
