James Johnson Palm, 70, of 102 Downing Drive, Zanesville, Ohio, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday, July 20, 1998, in Hospice of Genesis Healthcare System, Morrison House, Zanesville. Mr. Palm was retired as a machinist for United Technologies and had been a clerk for Lowe's, both in Zanesville. He was a member of First Free Methodist Church, BPOE 114 and American Legion Post 29, all Zanesville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. Surviving are his wife, Betty Barnes Palm; two sons, David L. of LaGrange, Ohio, and Kevin R. Palm of Grafton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda and Caitlyn Palm; and two sisters, Bertha Dicks of Duncan, Okla., and Shirley Schuster of Palm Coast, Fla. Deceased are a brother, George Palm; and three sisters, Eleanor Mumper, Dorothy Rathbone and Thelma Hoffman. He was born February 4, 1928, in Gabby Heights, a son of George and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Palm.
