Joseph Scaccia, 96, of 622 Park Street, California, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, July 24, 1998, in his home. Mr. Scaccia attended California area schools and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of California. He came to the United States as a child from Italy and worked as a coal miner for Republic Steel-Coal and J & L Coal and also was owner and operator of Scaccia Bus Line. Surviving are his wife, Mary Albenze Scaccia; a son, Vito Scaccia of California; four daughters, Rose Densmore of Daisytown, Mildred Galsbauer of Wexford, Virginia Bair of California and Frances Campbell of Fairborn, Ohio; a brother, Samuel Scaccia of state of California; four sisters, Bertha Emmer of North Carolina, Jane Russell and Josephine Lynn, both of state of California, and Rose Chanes of Florida; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, Frank Scotch; two sisters, Frances Giampia and Ann McGlaughlin; and a grandson, Joseph Bair, who died February 2, 1985.
