Elmer E. Murphy Jr., 83, of Carmichaels R.D.2, died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 1998, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, following a lengthy illness. On September 19, 1943, he married Clara V. Clark, who survives. Mr. Murphy was a retired coal miner from Nemacolin Mine with 45 years of service. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Phillipines. He was a member of Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels and a member of United Mine Workers of America. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Karen L. Murphy of Carmichaels; a brother, Charles Murphy of Glennie, Mich.; and four sisters, Sylvia Morris of Willoughby, Ohio, Edna Varesko of Euclid, Ohio, Dorothy Seni of Maple Heights, Ohio, and Margaret Teagarden of Rices Landing.
