William L. Eckels, 81, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in his home. Mr. Eckels was a self-employed livestock hauler and farmer in the Washington County area most of his life and had also been employed as a milk truck driver for more than 25 years for the Washington County Area Farmers Co-op. Mr. Eckels enjoyed participating in horsepulling competitions throughout the tri-state area. On June 9, 1937, he married Kathryn Morris Eckels, who died in 1971. Surviving are a son, William L. Eckels Jr. of North Jackson, Ohio; two sisters, Ruby Lyons of Ravenna, Ohio, and Hilma Workman of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, O.
