Daniel Edward Morris, 86, of North Main Street, Washington, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1998, in Washington Hospital. He had been ill since March. Mr. Morris had been employed at Ward Electric for more than 40 years. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM, the G.B.U. and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. Mr. Morris was a 1930 graduate of Washington High School and a 1937 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater in the Rhineland, Normandy, Ardennes, Northern France and Central Europe. He earned the expert infantry badge, E.A.M.E. with five battle stars and the Good Conduct Medal. On April 19, 1949, he married Eleanor Sheldon, who died in 1965. On April 19, 1965, he married Mildred Louise Schroyer, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Daniel E. and Douglas B. Morris, both of Washington, and Marvin Lutes of Imperial, Mo.; two daughters, Carrie S. Vanderlee and Patricia Lutes, both of Washington; a brother, George Morris of Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Andrew and Andrea Lutes, Lori Steen, Amy Gonzales, Daniel and Joseph Lutes, Danielle, Michelle and Shawna Vanderlee; and four great-grandchildren.
