John R. (Jack) Smith, 78, of Brookline, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, in his home, following a three-month illness. Mr. Smith was owner and operator of the 6:30 Club in Brookline, retiring in July 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Smith was a 50-year member of the Masons. On December 15, 1955, he married Mary Samson Smith, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Joanne Valco of Brentwood and Jackie Jurcevich of Washington; three granddaughters, Jessica, Jennifer and Lauren Jurcevich; a brother, William (Bill) Smith of Brentwood; and a niece.
