Word has been received of the death of James Charles Haines, 66, of Summerville, S.C., and formerly of Washington, who died Friday, June 26, 1998, in his home. Mr. Haines attended Washington schools and was a Baptist. He was a retired U.S. Army chief warrant officer 4, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Haines was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his wife, Thelma Robison Haines; three sons, Tommy R. Haines of Mass., David W. Donofrio of Pittsburgh, and Donald M. Donofrio of Summerville, S.C.; three daughters, Jimalea Bissette of Conn., Sallie A. Tusina of Manassas, Va., and Thelma J. Holcomb of Summerville; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, John Haines of McMurray, Robert Haines of Unity Township, Greensburg, and Richard Haines of Washington; an uncle, Carl Haines of Finleyville; three aunts, Ruth Bauer and Elsie Baker, both of Washington, and Sally Steele of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, in First Baptist Church, College and Wheeling streets, Washington, with the Rev. Edward Heist officiating.
