John R. Balog, 78, of 121 Dundee Drive, Canonsburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mr. Balog was a lifelong resident of the Canonsburg area and a member of St. Patrick Parish. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by United States Steel as a steelworker. Mr. Balog served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater and Panama. Surviving are a brother, Julius Balog of Canonsburg; two sisters, Catherine Tonsetic of Chartiers Township and Irene Cadez of Strabane; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are five sisters, Mary Kernich, Elizabeth Milik, Pearl Topping, Rosetta Noon and Anna V. Balog; and a brother, Elmer Balog.
