David Jacob Zelt, 84, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of 1098 Gabby Avenue, Washington, died at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Hospice of Dayton after a long illness. Mr. Zelt was a 1933 graduate of Trinity High School and served as an accountant with Brockway Glass Co. for 42 years until retiring in 1976. He was a charter member of Church of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church of Washington and formerly served as deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 164 of Washington and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He served as an Eagle Scout leader with Boy Scouts of America and helped organize North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department. On August 12, 1940, he married Frances Dunning, who died February 14, 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Zelt Matzko of Oakwood, Ohio; a sister, Joanna McCullough of Fairmont, W.Va.; a grandson, David Michael Matzko; and several nieces and nephews.
