Charles Maxwell (Max) Carl, 63, of Gibsonia, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mr. Carl was a 1953 graduate of East Bethlehem Township High School and graduated from California State Teachers College in 1957. He was employed at Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. in Cleveland, Aliquippa and Pittsburgh, retiring from J&L Specialty Steel in Midland with 41 years combined service. He was a member of Gibsonia Presbyterian Church, Strongsville Lodge 728 F&AM of Strongsville, Ohio, Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Sewickley Heights Gun Club and was active in scouting. Surviving are five children, Teresa Cole of Hopewell, Charles Carl Jr. of Oakland, Pittsburgh, William Carl of Gibsonia, Cynthia DiGiacobbe of Southampton, Amy Steifel of Cranberry Township; 10 grandchildren, Geoffrey, Ashley and Bret Cole, Kristi and Bill Carl, Kyle, Beverley and Leah DiGiacobbe, and Nathan and Jared Steifel; a brother, John Carl of Vestaburg; and his wife, Jennie Lybarger Carl of Clinton.
