Sell Wilson Thomas Jr., 69, of Waldorf, Md., formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, in Forestville, Md. Mr. Thomas was a former member of St. Paul AME Church in Washington. He was employed for many years as a liquor control manager for the State Liquor Store in the Washington County area, and later became employed for the federal government in Washington D.C., in the retirement claims department until he retired. Mr. Thomas was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School. He played the drums since childhood also played in the Washington High School Band. He later owned a quintet called "The Sell Thomas Quintet" and played in the Washington Redskins Band until a few years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy overseas. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Boyd Thomas; a daughter, Connie Thomas of Washington; two sons, Gary Thomas of Washington and Ashton Thomas of Waldorf; two brothers, Charles E. Thomas of Waldorf and Raymond R. Thomas of Pomfret, Md.; two grandchildren, Rodney L. Thomas and Randy L. Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
