He was born July 3, 1914, in Burgettstown, a son of George and Mary Chverchko. He worked for 22 years at the Avella Coal Washer and was a member of the Avella Area School Board for many years. He retired in August 1976 from Washington Steel, where he worked in the shipping department. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Jennie Estfonie Szczepanik, whom he married November 23, 1939, at St. Michael Church in Avella. Also surviving are a sister, Ann Chverchko of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, George, John, Joseph and Andrew; and a sister, Mary Yerina. Private services were held Monday, June 15, officiated by the Rev. Floyd Marasco. Interment was in West Point Cemetery, Avella. Donations may be made to the Hickory Volunteer Fire Department, Mt.
