Dorothy Cox Ward, 91, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998. Mrs. Ward was a graduate of Piedmont High School, Piedmont, Calif. She was an active member of Brentwood Presbyterian Church for 57 years, where she served as treasurer of the Presbyterian Women for more than 25 years. She was an ordained elder of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). In 1993, she was recognized by Presbyterian Women (U.S.A.) as the recipient of an Honorary Life Member for her outstanding service to the church. Mrs. Ward was also a member of the Joy Circle, Whitehall Women's Club, and past president of the Zora Home, South Hills Auxiliary. While living in Washington, she attended Faith Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed knitting and made more than 1,000 baby sweaters for family, friends and for distribution by Presbyterian Women during the last 20 years of her life. On May 16, 1940, she married Alfred H. Ward, who is deceased. Surviving are a two sons, Kenneth A. Ward of Dorset, Vt., and Robert H. Ward of Aptos, Calif.; two daughters, Marilyn V. Udani of Marlton, N.J., and Janet W. Brown of Carmichaels; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Yvonne Watkins and Yolanda Soileau; and a half brother, O. W. Cox.
