Retired coal miner from Gateway Coal
Walter Petros, 78, of Holbrook R.D.1, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Greene County Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 15, 1919, in Greensburg, a son of Antoni and Mary Abramczyk Petros.
Mr. Petros was a retired coal miner and had worked for the Gateway Coal Co.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany with an Airborne unit of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Petros was a former resident of Waynesburg and had lived in Holbrook for the past 18 years.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461, Waynesburg, and was a member of Rohanna's Golf Course for many years where he enjoyed golfing.
His first wife, Marcella Bruno Petros, died September 17, 1976. On June 5, 1980, he married Ramona Roberts Petros, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Petros Smith of Waynesburg; a son, Walter A. Petros of Waynesburg; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Yoders of Waynesburg; two stepsons, John Waychoff of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mark Waychoff of Oak Forest; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lottie Brown of Mather, Wanda Petrick of Ravenna, Ohio and Blanche Petros of Mather; three brothers, Joseph Petros of Clarksville R.D.1, John Petros of Easton, Kan., and Thomas Petros of Warren, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Edward, Chester and Stanley Petros.
