Retired coal miner and Army veteran
Harry L. Pierce, 86, of Sycamore R.D.1, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Sundale Nursing Home, Morgantown, W.Va., following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Pierce was born August 11, 1911 in Fayette City, a son of Isaac and Jeanette Smith Pierce.
On December 28, 1946, he married Fannie Harris Pierce, who survives.
He was a farmer and a coal miner at Shanopin Mine, Bobtown, before he retired in 1973. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Pierce resided most of his life at Hopewell Ridge in Center Township, and was affiliated with the Assembly of God, Mt. Morris, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Isaac W. Pierce of Sycamore R.D.1 and Daniel E. Pierce of Texas; one brother, John Pierce of Taylorstown; and four grandchildren, Paul, Jason, James and Jessica Pierce.
Deceased are a daughter, Sally Jeanette Pierce; five sisters, Emma Pierce, Margaret Jeffrey, Gertrude Bean, Elizabeth Pierce and Pauline Wrick; and five brothers, Isaac Pierce, Clayton Pierce, Albert Pierce, James Pierce and Frank Pierce.
