Dorothe E. Wilson, 82, of West Roxbury, Mass., died May 23, 1998, at her son's home in Reading, Mass., after a brief illness.

She was born February 1, 1916, in Washington, a daughter of Anna Mae and Richard A. Thomas Sr.
Mrs. Wilson attended the Washington public school system, graduating in 1934 from Washington High School.
On June 3, 1938, she married Joseph Leonard Wilson of East Washington. Following their wedding they moved to Boston, Mass., to join the Wilson family trucking business.
In 1966, she joined the First Church of Christ, Scientist, as a clerk in the outgoing mail department and after 14 years of service, she retired in 1980 to pursue many volunteer activities.
Mrs. Wilson was an active member of Twelfth Baptist Church and later attended St. Mark Congregational Church both of Roxbury, Mass.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Leonard Wilson; a son, David L. Wilson of Reading, Mass.; three grandchildren, Michael and Scott Wilson and Kristen Wilson Marzovilla; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Alleen Farrell and Nellie Mae Mack, both of Washington; and three brothers, Sell W. Thomas of Maryland, Archie and Warren H. Thomas, both of Washington.
Deceased are two brothers, John W. Thomas and Richard A. Thomas Jr.; and two sisters, Alice "Dimpy" Campbell and Celestine "Teenie" Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, at St. Paul AME Church, 16 Ridge Avenue, Washington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
