Louis J. Colosimo, 76, of Victory Hill, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1921, in Charleroi, a son of Ralph and Catherine Qualtieri Colosimo.
Mr. Colosimo was a 1940 graduate of Charleroi High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in Italy with the 15th Air Force 558th Service Squadron, 43rd Service Group.
Mr. Colosimo was retired as foreman in the cold draw department of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.'s Allenport Plant, with 35 years of service.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Monongahela, an original member of Victory Hill Social Center and a member of Henry M. Phillips Lodge 337 of Monongahela, where he was honored as the 1992 "Mason of the Year" for community service in emergency medical services.
His emergency medical career included being a volunteer with the Mon Valley Emergency Medical Services (Monessen Ambulance), an instructor and trainer in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with the American Heart Association, a first aid instructor for the American Red Cross and an instructor/evaluator for the Washington County Emergency Medical Services.
Among his many honors were: the Star of Life Award from the Washington County Emergency Medical Services in 1984, and the state Emergency Medical Technician of the Year from the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council in 1987 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce in 1997. He received a certificate of appreciation from the Washington County commissioners for "training thousands of people in CPR, numerous EMTs, and having served the Washington County Emergency Medical Services Council as an officer."
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ruth Graff Colosimo; a son, Raymond Colosimo of Carroll Township; two daughters, Nancy J. Stoddard of Greenwood, Ind., and Mary Lou Dzimiera of Carroll Township; six grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony J. Colosimo of Roscoe and Joseph A. Colosimo of West Newton; and three sisters, Jennie Caruso and Whilameia Dempsey, both of Fontana, Calif., and Eleanor Colosimo of Monessen.
Deceased are a sister, Mary Bradley; and two brothers, Samuel and Leonard Colosimo.
At the request of the deceased, services on June 20 will be private.
