Billie L. Williams, 76, of Fourth Avenue, New Eagle, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, in Mon Valley Hospital. Mr. Williams was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, New Eagle. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific, and retired as a miner from Mathies Coal Company in 1982. He was a member of American Legion Frank Downer Post 302 and the Hoot Owl and Haymakers Club, both of New Eagle. Surviving are his wife, Alberta May Smith Williams, with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on March 21. Also surviving are a son, Bill Williams; and a daughter, Mary Jo Mitchell, both of Monongahela; two granddaughters, Bethany Williams and Cara Mitchell; and a brother, Alfred Williams of Finleyville.
