Morgan P. Bowers, 81, of Mt. Morris, died at 6 a.m. Monday, June 22, 1998, in Morgan Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Morgantown, W.Va., following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bowers was a lifelong resident of Mt. Morris and was Presbyterian. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked in the timber business and retired from Perry Township as a township supervisor. He was a member of American Legion Post 992, Dunkard Grange 2045, Greene County Historical Society and Mt. Morris Senior Citizens Center, and served on the board of Cedar Grove Cemetery. On March 16, 1941, he married Dorothy Hildred Gapen Bowers, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Luzader of Westover, W.Va., and Sandra Ryan of Bridgeport, W.Va.; a son, Sam Bowers of Mt. Morris; three grandsons, Christopher Adams, Scott Kiger and Gary Bowers; a stepgrandson, Lee Luzader; and a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Lonal Hogan and Violet Sullivan, both of Waynesburg; and a brother, Blaine Bowers of Newport, Ohio.
