Martha Harbaugh Litten, 81, of Mather, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. Mrs. Litten graduated from Jefferson High School in 1936 and from Waynesburg College. She also attended Penn State University and California State College. She was a retired school teacher for the Jefferson-Morgan School District for more than 26 years. She was a lifelong resident of Mather and a member of the Carmichaels Christian Church, having served as the choir director. For a time she also directed the choir at Mather Christian Church. She sang for weddings and enjoyed playing the piano. Mrs. Litten was a member of the Greene County Retired Teachers' Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. She was the former secretary of the Dry Tavern Lions Medical Center Association. One June 15, 1946, she married H. Dewey Litten, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Wayne Litten of Mather; two granddaughters, Jodi Litten of Waynesburg and Jaime Litten of Mather; a sister, Dorcas Moore of Baden; a brother, John Harbaugh of Greensburg and several nieces and nephews.
