Pearl J. Hancher Cassidy, 75, of West Alexander, died Friday, June 26, 1998, in Washington Hospital. Mrs. Cassidy was a member of First Christian Church, West Alexander, and the former Rebekkah Lodge, Claysville. She was a graduate of Claysville High School and attended Penn Commercial School, Washington. Mrs. Cassidy was employed by McAnallen Brothers, Washington, for 25 years as a secretary, bookkeeper and computer operator. She also had been owner-operator of Hancher's Truck Stop, Claysville. She enjoyed puzzles, traveling and painting. On December 28, 1945, she married Walter D. Hancher Jr., who died October 19, 1953. On April 2, 1955, she married James M. Cassidy, who died October 31, 1995. Surviving are two sons, L. Wayne Hancher of West Alexander and R. Edward Hancher of Washington; two daughters, Kathryn Cassidy Plumley of Troy, N.Y., and Patricia "Trish" Cassidy of McMurray; a sister, Ethel Miller of Washington; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Ann, Matt, Mark, Heather and Sara Hancher, Michael Plumley Jr. and Jesse Plumley; and a great-grandson.
