John E. Grove

John E. "Nick" Grove, 73, of Rogersville, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 14, 1925, in Rogersville, a son of John Lindsey and Blanche Adamson Grove.
Mr. Grove had lived his entire life in Rogersville. At the time of his death, he was a member, treasurer and elder of Rogersville Christian Church. He also was a member of Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM, Consistory Valley of Pittsburgh, and was a former member of Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461.
Mr. Grove was employed as a station engineer by Texas Eastern Gas Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal with the 319th Army Air Force.
He was a 1942 graduate of Center Township High School.
Mr. Grove was involved in woodcrafting for many years and enjoyed football.
On November 13, 1944, he married Rebecca Margaret Haught Grove, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James H. Grove of Waynesburg; two daughters, Sue Welling of Scott Depot, W.Va., and Cathy Jean Grove of St. Albans, W.Va.; a sister, June Lahew of Waynesburg; and five grandchildren, John and David Welling, Jason and Derek Grove and Becky Lahew.
