Eugene C. Jones, 87, of Washington, formerly of Dorothy Avenue, Washington, and Bentleyville, died at 4:52 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 1998, in Washington County Health Center following a brief illness. Mr. Jones worked for many years as plant manager of the former Home Laundry and Dry Cleaners of Washington. He then worked for several years as a security guard at Millcraft Center until his retirement in 1982. He enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard during World War II. He was a former member of the Washington Lions Club and enjoyed traveling, camping, spending quality time with youngsters and giving encouragement to those in need. On March 31, 1934, he married Edith Loretta Clutter, who died August 19, 1982. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Anne Johnson, with whom he made his home; a sister, Georgette J. Pethel of Cape Coral, Fla.; a grandson, Robert L. Linton III; a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Paul M. Jones; and a sister, Madge Jones.
