Opal Marie Tanner, 83, of Greensboro R.D.1, Mapletown, died at 8 :25 p.m. Friday, June 5, 1998, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va.

She was born June 7, 1914, in Brock, Perry Township, a daughter of Melvin Lindsey and Sarah Jane Woods Jones.
Mrs. Tanner resided in Greene County most of her life and was a member of Mapletown United Methodist Church.
She was a former member of the Mapletown Hobby Circle, Dunkard Grange and the former Mapletown Women's Civic Club. She also was a former member of the Daughters of Ruth of Mapletown United Methodist Church.
On April 9, 1939, she married I. Wayne Tanner who died March 7, 1998.
Surviving are a son, David Wayne Tanner, at home; a daughter, Judith Tanner Mann of Carmichaels; a grandson, Jeffrey Charles Mann; a sister, Bertha Almeda Phillips of Spraggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are eight brothers, Jesse Osborne, Charley Clyde, Wayne Weldon, Willie Frieman, Wilbert Herman, Albert Arleigh, Alvah Lawrence and George Raymond Clark Jones; and two sisters, Flossie Mae Roach and Mary Evelyn Headlee.
